Stuck with Windows Vista activation error 0xC004F033

Hi,

I utilize Windows Vista in my PC. Previously I was running Windows XP on my computer but somehow it worn-out. So, I purchased a new copy of Windows vista from Microsoft website. But each time I try to activate Windows Vista; I am just getting the following error message:

Description

0xC004F033

The Software Licensing Service reported that the product key is not allowed to be installed. Please see the event

log for details.

I just stuck in one place. Can anyone help me!

Method 1: Re-insert the product key by using the "Change product key" tool

To re-insert the product key follow these steps given below:

  • Click on Start
  • Click on Computer and then click on System Properties on the toolbar.
  • In the Windows activation section click Change product key.
  • If it prompts for an administrator password or for confirmation then type your password or then click on continue option.
  • In the Product key box type the product key you have, and then click on Next.
  • Then follow the steps you find in the Windows Activation Wizard to complete the activation process properly.

This should solve the error. If not one more solution for which you can try for:

  • To activate Windows by telephone, you must use an automated telephone system.

You can also activate it by automated telephone system by the following steps:

  • Click on Start and then click on Computer.
  • Click on System properties you will find on the toolbar and then click on the option “Click here to activate Windows now”which you will find in the Windows Activation area.
  • If it prompts for an administrator password or for a confirmation of any kind then type the password or you should click on Continue.
  • Click on the Show “me other ways to Activate” option.
  • Click on the “Use the automated phone system” and then follow the instructions as you will be guided.

If you are watching this error, then your product key is not valid with your version of Windows Vista.

To get through this problem follow these steps. 

Determine whether you have 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows Vista.

To do this, follow  these steps:

  • Click Start.
  • Type System in the start search box and then choose system from the search list.
  • For a 64 bit version operating system, 64 bit Operating system appears for the system type under system.
  • For a 32 bit version operating system, 32 bit operating system appears for the system type Under system.
  • See the product packaging determine which version product key is available (32 bit, or 64 bit).
  • If the versions are separate like you have 32 bit version and the product key is for 64 bit version then this doesn't help you will have to buy valid product key.
