Skype Installation Error Code 1638

I installed Skype 4.2 before without having any errors.

It was deleted when I Have done a system reformatting due to virus. When trying to install it again, I received an error code 1638.

The error is stating that there is another version of Skype that is already installed on my computer.

But upon checking, I could not locate any other version of Skype in my PC and also, I just reformatted my system.

What should I do?

Skype Installation Error Code 1638

that error show you have existing Skype 4.2 in your computer you cannot install software has been already install in your computer. 

Take note: don't delete files of any installation software you must uninstall it

how to remove Skype 4.2

1. click start button 

2. type in search program and files box add or remove programs

3. find Skype 4.2 then click uninstall then, yes

4. now completely remove Skype in your pc.

Skype Installation Error Code 1638

You are using Skype 4.2 which works fine on first time installation. There is a bug that when you try to upgrade or reinstall Skype, the installation failed and error code 1638 with message is displayed.

This bug has been removed in Skype version 5.6.0.110. Now you please down load Skype 5.6.0.110 or the latest version and install it. It will work fine. There is no need of uninstalling the old version.

Skype Installation Error Code 1638
