Gmail was voted in to PC world’s top 100 products of 2005 right after Firefox, is there a need for anyone to switch to a new email address?

Should one switch to a new email address?

Hello there,

It’s always up to you to change your email address or not. In my own opinion it would be better to have an alternate email address for this matter rather than changing your previous address. If you used that email for a very long time already then most of your previous contact details already have that email address. I suggest that you should make an alternate address. Having an alternate email also is very useful, in some ways. Some benefits of having two or more emails are: some sites requires two or more email address, linking two email address would be useful for security purposes, etc.

It is actually not necessary to switch to a new email address just because a new email service has just been voted on top of other products. As long as you are comfortable with your email service and it delivers your messages accordingly without any issues, there’s no need to leave your current email provider and transfer to a new one.

Though it is not necessary to transfer to a new email provider, it is always nice to have another email address aside from your original email address. Having more than one email addresses provides security for your accounts and the freedom to select which email address to use when you need to create an account on a website and providing an email address is required.

You can also use the other email address as backup account in case you forgot the password. When requesting for a new password, the new password will be sent to your other email address which you elected as the backup account.
