“Scanpst.exe” error message in Outlook

Hi,

Today is a real bad day. I came to the office only to see that my Microsoft Outlook has crashed somehow. I cannot send/receive my emails. Whenever I double click the Outlook Icon, an error occurs.

I have a snapshot of that error message. That message also suggests a solution to use some kind of repair tool. I tried that tool and ran scanpst.exe but nothing happened. The same message comes up when I clicked Outlook again.

Can somebody tell me what is wrong with my Outlook and how can I fix it ?

MAP132.DLL is corrupt or the wrong version. This could have been caused by installing other messaging software.

Please reinstall Outlook.

First and foremost make sure outlook version is fully updated, you can use Microsoft update to do this. In case the problem persists.

Start Microsoft outlook in safe mode, this can easily be done by typing a command, "outlook.exe /safe" in 'run' on the start menu.

This will solve the error and you will be able to start your outlook properly. But if it fails the you will have to check whether some of your add-in are corrupt.

After you start outlook in safe mode disable all the add-in's and start your outlook again.

Enable the add-ins one by one as you restart your outlook, when it fails to start, that add-in is corrupt, and you should uninstall and reinstall it.

Good luck.
