Query on SSO or Single Sign On

I needed help very badly regarding my final project in school, and I don’t know if this posting would help me but still I’m taking my chances. My project involves the creation of a prototype/solution for SSO or Single-Sign On. The research I’ve done on the web for almost 3 weeks now never help me at all because I cannot understand them. For this project, I’m using 2 computers with SQL Server 2008, Windows Server 2008, and Visual Studio 2008. The only codes I’m familiar with are VB.NET and SQL Database and basic java codes. I would appreciate if someone could help me out by explaining the procedures in a step-by-step process in solving how to do this project. I am not really good at programming. I’ve spent 3 weeks already of the 3-month work time for this project, and I haven’t started anything yet because I’m so overwhelmed and I don’t know where to start. What do you recommend as the easiest and best open source development for Single Sign On? It is important that signing in to several applications on the web on several servers should be done for authentication when utilizing active directory.

Hello Patricia Duff,

Since what you are doing is a project and I know it will not be easy for you get a step by step guide unless someone really understands the scope of your project, I will suggest that you use tutorials that you can find on the internet that will give you a broader understanding on the single sign on usage, look for sample codes and work with them too.

You question is too broad, but I will suggest that you try the following site and see it may be of help for you to understand single sign on:

Hope you are enlightened and success in your project.
