Hi Hannahwtc,

The best precautionary step for preventing the virus is using Kaspersky antivirus for Linux. The free version is not so rich for protection. You have to buy or collect any version with activation key of this software. It will keep your pc safe from all type of virus, malware, spam etc. But, it should be updated everyday.
