Problem with terminal and synaptic

Hello. I use ubuntu 11.10 and since yesterday I can't install almost anything. I tried sudo apt -get update in terminal and I got SPOILER: SHOW and when I try to install something in ubuntu software center it stops and I get the message "Check your internet connection".

My internet connection is fine though. How to fix this?

Problem with terminal and synaptic

Try to remember if you have done a previous installation on your computer. That installation might have been an incomplete installation of the program and maybe that is the reason why this is happening on all of your attempt installation.

Try uninstalling it then reinstall it back to fix any corrupted files in the installation and to restore its settings back to default including some that you might have customized.

If you have not done any installation, try checking your computer for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the system. For a much thorough diagnostics on the system, use a disk utility application like PC Tools Performance Toolkit.
