Hi,

In the login screen opt for “console login” in menu. Then delete 2 files in the plasma configuration and this may fix the matter.

These commands will be useful

cd ~/.kde/share/config (This is the main command which will phrase out .kde folder)

    rm plasma-appletsrc

    rm plasmarc

    reboot

You can also login to the graphical desktop instead of rebooting but I recommend rebooting.

This error is seen if you have made any modifications in the panel. Therefore resetting the plasma configuration to default is the only solution and the steps mentioned above are to do this.

Hi there,

there have been problems turning up of late with latest KDE 4.x.x updates.

The good thing about Linux and kde in particular, there are several workarounds for an error.

First method would rename ./kde4 to ./kde4_old and doing the same for ./kde changing to ./kde_old.

Second Method would be to remove the plasma-appletsrc by the following command.
~./kde/share/config/plasma-appletsrc and restart
