Will Open Office thrive of Flounder at Apache? Why did Oracle give OpenOffice to the apache Foundation and not the some  other group, such as the Document Foundation, the group that oversees LibreOffice?

Oracle has Given codebase to Apache

Hi there,

Oracle stated back on June 11th 2011 that they are going to ‘contribute the OpenOffice.org code to The Apache Software Foundation’s Incubator. Oracle claimed that they are doing this for the better good of the OpenOffice.org software suite through the development and commitment of open source communities.

Nevertheless The Apache Software Foundation has a robust reputation for outstanding quality when it comes to software and with this announcement, the OpenOffice.org software suite will only get better in order for IBM to succeed in the line of office software suites.

I hope that answers any questions, regarding the subject matter.
