I recently got a new nexus 5 and i have come across an issue. I am trying to connect my Nexus 5 to my Laptop via USB. Each time it detects the phone but the driver installation says Failed. So i would like to know that is there an issue with the handset or there is some other issue ?

I guess you haven’t installed yet the USB drivers for your Nexus 5 that’s why it has an error every time you connect the handset to your computer. This problem can be fixed by simply installing the drivers on your computer. Installing the Nexus 5 USB drivers allows you to connect your phone to your computer and transfer files.

First, you need to download the latest driver from Google USB Driver and then unpack the ZIP file in a single folder. Once extracted, connect your phone to your computer then right-click My Computer then select Properties. Select Hardware tab then click Device Manager. On the list, you should see Nexus 5. Right-click Nexus 5 then select Update Driver.

On the next screen, select “Install from a list or specific location” then click Next. Under “Search for the best driver in these locations”, check “Include this location in the search” and then click Browse. Select the folder where you extracted the USB drivers and then click Next. Wait until it is finished then go back to Device Manager and check if it is successfully installed.

You can also disconnect your phone from your computer and then connect it again. This way, when an error appears, it means the driver is not installed successfully. But after doing the steps above, you should not see the error again.
