Need to create a web based messenger like msn

I want to create an MSN Messenger client on the Web as Meebo for my users. I think ajaxim to use user interface and libpurple based. http://ajaxim.com/ http://old.ajaxim.com/ – demo here I want to learn though. The fastest way to get there, or is it an open source project that I can fit written ideas and alternative means are also popular.

Creating a web based messenger is not easy and not even a little time task. It needs a complete planning and looking for all the work whereabouts, keep tracks of it's pros & cons as well managing the after launch skills and maintaining the going of project, checking later for any bugs and errors.
