What is xml publisher?
It’s a template-based publishing solution which comes with the Oracle E-business Suite. It combines common word processing tools with E- business Suite reporting. It can merge the custom templates with the data extracts to output html, excel, PDF or text for use with EDF and EDI transmission.
Unfortunately Open Office is not yet supported with XML Publisher.

Hi,
XML Publisher is a template-based publishing solution. It’s the new reporting technology. Earlier it was developed to solve the reporting problems for Oracle Applications only. Now it is known by the Oracle BI publisher.
It simply takes an XML data file as input and then merges it into a standard template and produces the necessary output in Word/PDF/Excel/email/EDI etc. It can be used with OpenOffice (OO) For that you need can install the Oracle BI extension for OO.
