It has a 500-gigabyte hard disk drive, with built in satellite and terrestrial broadcasting tuners.  It can access load from PS Vita, Sony Tablet and Sony Xperia smartphone. Some features are similar to Torne, a Playstation 3 digital tuner/recorder which has its own hard drive, accepts more types of cable and has streaming ability. Storage memory will be expandable by connecting the external HDD to it. Expect this device come out this July in Japan for a retail price of 16,980 yen.

Nasne is Sony’s digital media recorder and TV tuner that include support for DLNA streaming and integration with other Sony portables. It has a 500 GB internal storage, USB port that can be used for additional expansion, and B-CAS card slot. The Sony nasne is designed to stream and capture video to Sony-made PlayStation game consoles, tablets and Smartphones, and PCs.

It is already on sale since July 19, 2012 and will cost around $210. It includes inputs for satellite and terrestrial TV. As with its initial release, a Sony Computer Entertainment spokesman said the company has no existing plans of selling the device outside Japan. But even if this is the case, they are still considering different alternatives.

The aim of nasne is to interconnect its different product lines. The Sony nasne is actually a descendant to an external TV tuner that the company sells for the PlayStation game consoles in Japan which is branded as “torne”. The only difference between the two devices is that torne relies on the PlayStation for storage while nasne has its own internal storage which puts it as a standalone product.

Additionally, the nasne device also supports an external hard drive for added storage which can be connected via USB port. In Europe, Sony sells a tuner for the PlayStation which is similar to torne in Japan.
