Hello.

I don't know what happened to my Firewall but it seems not to be working well.

Sometimes, a balloon icon appears saying that the Firewall is off.

Because of this, I check on it on the control panel and guess what, it is not turned off.

Is there something wrong with my Firewall?

It depends on your Operating System, If the operating system you are using right now is WINDOWS XP SP2 or WINDOWS XP SP3. Follow these steps.

1. Open the Control Panel (All Items View).
2. Click on the Windows Firewall icon.
3. Click on the Turn Windows Firewall on or off link in the left blue pane.

For WINDOWS 7

1. Open the Control Panel (All Items View).
2. Click on the Windows Firewall icon.
3. Click on the Turn Windows Firewall on or off link in the left blue pane.

Try to turn on your firewall then restart and check if its working, if not, turn it off again and turn on again. Don’t forget to restart your computer after each successful changes.

I hope this would help you.

If there is a suspicious balloon that appears on the system tray from time to time telling you that the firewall is off though it is not, it can be a virus making its way around the system. To check if there is no infection in the system, update your antivirus and scan your computer. Scan all your drives and verify that your system is really clean.

If no virus was found, try turning off the firewall and then turn it back on. Before doing this, disconnect your computer from the internet. If your computer is connected online via cable, disconnect the network cable at the back of your CPU. Once the computer is offline, click Start, Control Panel, Security Center, and then Windows Firewall.

Click or select Off then click OK. Restart your computer. After that, follow the same steps to open Windows Firewall. In Windows Firewall, select On then click OK. Restart the computer again then check if the balloon appears. If the problem continues, download and install Comodo Free Firewall. It supports Windows XP Service Pack 2 and up, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
