Hi,
I am a new computer user. I have a very irritating problem, with my desktop now a days. I am not a much heavy user such as graphics or sort of these things. But my computer sometimes freezes in some states. My keyboard, mouse none of them are working. I have to restart my computer. In this manner I lost my some valuable works.
I need to fix this problem but don’t know how. One thing I should mention is that my operating system is 6 months old.
Can anyone help me to solve this boring problem?

My computer is freezing all the time

This irritating state of computer is called hang. The computer freezes and does not work as it should be. This is a very common problem to computer users. There are few reasons behind this. These are:
1. Over heating the processor/motherboard. Sometimes the processor cooling does not work properly. In this case the processor overheated beyond a particular temperature and can not work properly.
2. Problem with Hard disk drives. Some times the needed windows file for your particular processing is missing due to faulty hard drive. In such situations the computer can not work properly.
3. RAM problem. Sometimes your RAM is not sufficient for your processing, in such situations the computer hangs.
In your case, RAM is not probably the problem. Your problem may be the first one or the second one. For solving these problems you need to do following steps:
1. You need to check your processor cooling fan. This fan essentially needs to work properly and clean. If not working properly than get the fan replaced. You also need to check the extra fans in your casing if there any.
2. To solve this particular problem, you need to run the windows utilities such as scan disk. If there are any bad sectors than need to be repaired. If it is not possible to repair bad sectors than you need to replace your hard disk.
These are hardware causing problems. There are may be some software problems too. As you said your operating system is 6 months old than you can set up a new operating system. Some times computer hangs due to a lot of virus. Do you use any anti virus software? If not than need a good one. Freezing computer is called computer hang. There are too many reasons of hanging computer. Also there are many ways to solve these problems. Sometimes it is even worse that the start menu or keyboard, none of them are working. In such case you can control the computer with task manager. You can open task manager with most famous combination Ctrl+Alt+Delete. This combination opens task manager for you.
You can end application which is not responding. This sort of not responding application mainly causes the problem. You can shut down your computer from the task manager also. Shut down menu appears on task manager window. This is the case of windows XP operating system. You can choose log off menu from the task manager window.
