Mouse Lags in Ubuntu 11.10

I just installed Ubuntu and is liking it. However,  I noticed that my mouse sometimes lags that I have to connect and reconnect it again to get it to work properly. How can I fix this problem with my Ubuntu machine?

Mouse Lags in Ubuntu 11.10

 

Hi there,

There have been some serious mouse lags on Ubuntu 11.10; the problems arise from many different areas. The first order of business is to check whether you have the most recent drivers, both nvidia and AMD cards have been having the problem. The steps that should be takes are, update the driver, restart and things should go back to normal. If it doesn’t work, try logging in and switching to Ubuntu classic.

If that doesn’t solve the problem, this definitely will.

On the console type

sudo apt-get remove –purge fglrx fglrx_* fglrx-amdcccle* fglrx-dev* xorg-driver-fglrx

 sudo apt-get remove –purge xserver-xorg-video-ati xserver-xorg-video-radeon

 and then reinstall the drivers for you graphics card using program System/ Administration/ Additional Drivers.
