More time needed to check email with OS X Mavericks

I have noticed after upgrading to OS Mavericks, that my system is taking more time to fetch mail, Previously before upgradation, all was fine but now the speed has slightly reduced. Can an expert tell me why this has happened and if this is a common issue faced by all? How can this issue be solved?

More time needed to check email with OS X Mavericks

Hi.

This happens because Apple did some changes with IMAP implementation. If you tweaked your Gmail IMAP settings before update to Mavericks, your mail is now slow. With Mavericks is IMAP natively disabled and you need to turn it on again for all mail. So go to Settings and choose Labels and turn on Show in IMAP for All Mail under System Labels. After that your e-mail fetching should be much faster.
