Microsoft Office Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close

Hi,

My problem is with Excel. This problem occurs every time I exit Excel.

An error message will be displayed with a message that tells me Excel encountered a problem that needs to be closed.

Fortunately, this error only appears after I commanded exit and my files are safely saved, but it is still an annoying message.

Why should I report to Microsoft?

At first I thought, it will just be temporary, but now it always happens. I tried to scan my computer for some viruses, however, none was found. I re-installed Excel and rebooted the system  but the same error message pops up.

Your ideas on my problem would be of great help to me.

Hi there,

You did not mention which version of Office you are using. My answer to your question would have been more accurate if otherwise.

From the screenshot you have produced about the error I presume you are using Office 2003 with Excel 2003.

I would recommend that you download Office Uninstaller for Microsoft Office 2003 from this link and run the program. The utility will do a proper cleanup of your Office and later you can do a fresh install of your Office. Make sure you uninstall all Office products and re-install them in accordance to your needs.

Microsoft Office Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close

This error represents a damaged component upon installation of the product known as Microsoft Office.

The error is not serious though, in fact, you can still perform your work and finish it except that the error message keeps on popping out when you are about to end your work in Excel and that could be annoying.

• Since Excel spreadsheet came from an installation suite known as Microsoft Office, therefore, it has its own utility to diagnose and repair every application issues such as the one your experiencing.
• Try navigating all programs and find Microsoft Office and then Microsoft Office tools and finally Microsoft Office diagnostics. This will scan for and recover your Microsoft Office problems.
