Hi, Raj. This hard drive crash can happen to anyone. So, don’t panic. See first of all you check Windows Recycle Bin because sometimes due to virus attack, the files get moved to Recycle Bin but not deleted permanently. Secondly, you can also go through the backups which you had made before the crash occurred. If the first two methods don’t work then you can try this one- Download Mini Tool Power Data Recovery. This free program has helped a huge number of users to regain missing files. Hope this helps you as well.

If your hard drive had crashed, on that state, literally there is nothing you can do to recover your data because it is no longer functioning correctly. For you to recover any data you have to make it functioning again and that’s the first thing you should do. To do this, you have to fix the error that caused the drive to crash.

Download and install PC Tools Performance Toolkit. Once installed, start PC Tools then select “Recovery” tab and click “Repair Drives”. Under “Select Drive Operation”, select “Surface Scan” and check “Perform on reboot”. Select the drive to repair and click “Start” and then “Continue”. Restart your computer to begin the test. The program will begin repairing your hard drive before it starts Windows.

Log in back to Windows and check the hard drive if it is accessible now. Once the drive is accessible, copy all the files to another drive. Once the recovery of all the files is complete, delete the partition of the hard drive you repaired and create a new one. Format it and copy the files back. That should make the drive back in working condition.
