There are 3 ways to uninstall the AVG Antivirus 2011 if the user is not satisfied with the free download. The first option is to click on Start, go to All Programs, then choose AVG 2011, and click on Uninstall AVG 2011.

Another way is by clicking on Start, going to Control Panel, then “Add or Remove Programs”

The last option is to get the updated Use AVG Removal Tool by going to http://techdows.com/2009/04/download-avg-removal-tool.htmlwhere you can choose whether you need the software for 32-bit or 64-bit depending on your Windows version. Once you have it downloaded, try the steps below:

  1. Download and save the related latest AVG installation file.
  2. Once you have it installed, run the AVG installation file, and wait for the AVG Installer window to appear on your screen.
  3. Now, choose “Remove” then click on Continue and let the AVG 2011 uninstaller finish.
  4. Once done, restart your computer.

Hello Ynna.

The Error code 0xC0070643 appears when AVG is unable to uninstall itself because of old versions that are still installed.

Here are the steps on how to fix it:

1.  Boot your computer and enter Windows in Safe Mode.  You can enter Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key right after the BIOS screen disappears and before the VIsta startup logo appears onscreen.

2.  Click on "Computer" and go to Program files or Program Files(x86).

3.  Open the AVG folder.

4.  Check to see if there are other, older versions of AVG in the folder (for example, AVG 9 or AVG 10).

5.  Try to delete all the folders inside.  Some of the folders may not be possible to delete but that is normal.

6.  Open Task Manager and close all running AVG processes.

7.  You should be able to delete all folders as well as the AVG folder.

8.  Restart your computer.

9.  Install AVG 2011.  Why is it necessary to install, you ask?  This is because simply deleting the program files from Step 3 to 8 above does not properly clean up the Windows registry.

10.  Uninstall AVG 2011.
