I have installed WIN XP in tow computers and I had used internet connection sharing in them, so I setup the first computer use static IP address 192.168.0.1 with internet connection, and had the other computer obtained its IP address automatically.
File sharing works fine and everything was good, then I installed Windows 7 ultimate (32 bit) in tow computers, but both of them could not be connected to the internet. When I checked its connection details, the Auto configuration IPv4 Address was 169.245.223.63. I think this IP address should be something like 192.168.1.xxx; really I can’t do anything else, Please tell me what to do now ?
Thanks in advance,
Sandra

Internet connection sharing between two computers- Windows XP
Hi Sandra
Windows 7 has three types of sharing configurations,
1. It has PUBLIC sharing network which reduce security risks.
2. It has HOMEGROUP NETWORK which makes it easy to entry level users to start network sharing but it only works between windows 7 computers.
3. WORK NETWORK basically this helps you to whom, how and what folders should be shared to.
Although each computer has a unique name log to each computer system screen and set all the pc to be on a network with the same name.

Greetings,
An IP address starting with 169 is invalid. You may try assigning the IP address manually.
1. Go to Start > Control Panel
2. Look for Network and Sharing Center.
3. Click on Change adapter settings on the left.
4. Right click on Local Area Connection, then properties.
5. Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4, and hit Properties.
6. Select Use the following IP address. The first computer with internet connection:
IP address: 192.168.0.2
Default gateway: 192.168.0.1
7. Second computer:
IP address: 192.168.0.3
Default gateway: 192.168.0.1
