Hi,

Reformat is the best way to remove viruses. If you just reinstall the Operating System, there is still a lot of viruses remaining on your system and it will be activated again once virus program is being click or used. Reformatting your hard drive and reinstalling the fresh copy of your software could be the tested way to remove viruses, make sure next time you should install and update your virus scanner and install deep freeze as a second back-up of your system. Genuine virus scanner is the best this is guarantee updated time to time. If you have any IT problem questions you can always post it here and it is expected to be answer ASAP. Lastly, try to reinstall the Operating System first if there still a virus then reformat it and  install.

Thanks,

Yes, if you are going to perform a complete format then you will be able to remove antivirus totally. As there will be noting in your computer and it will get a new life in a case. You can also resolve a virus problem in many cases as some are discussed here :

  • Run your system in safe mode and perform a restore point.
  • Check for any virus that is infecting your computer.
  • Check for all the disk that what disk contain error.
  • Find the error file and try to remove it.
  •  Virus files are almost of auto run so you can also disable them form running at startup of your computer. Also you can find and remove them when starting computer or running in safe mode.

I think that its enough to solve your problem.
