0x80040201 error is an outlook error, and it occurs while sending the mails. The reason behind the occurrence of the error is that the email sits in the outbox indefinitely.

The error occurs when a previously Microsoft Exchange environment computer sends the mail to the computer, which is presently a part of the environment. The steps to fix the 0x80040201 error are:

  • Run the computer to safe mode

Open the RUN dialog box, and type Outlook /safe, then press Enter.

  • Delete the cached Outlook Contact or delete NK2 File. NK2 is the prime cause behind the occurrence of this outlook error.
  • Disable Third-party Antivirus by uninstalling the application or turn-off the virus setting manually.
  • Emptying Autocomplete List
