Hi,

0xC1900101 – 0x40017 error while installing Windows 8.1. Any ideas on why i get this error and what i could do to fix this?

Not sure if its the driver issue and I have an HP laptop.

Thanks.

The error occurs when you update to Windows 8.1 pack. It is caused due to driver bug check, which checks whether all updates are installed. Follow the following steps to fix the error:

Step 1: Disconnect all the devices from your system except the keyboard and mouse. Try reinstalling the Windows 8.1. The installation will succeed if the error was caused due to external devices. You can also try updating the drivers of your system.

Step 2: Update all the window updates for all drivers.

a) Press “Windows Logo” + “W” keys.

b) Type “Updates” in the search bar. Then “Install optional updates”.

c) In “Windows Update” window, click “Check for Updates” on the top left corner. Check fresh list of updates and install all the updates listed there.

Check Troubleshoot problems with installing updates for any problems in Windows updates.

Also provide driver updates from company manufacturer’s site.
