Hello,

I love listening to Pandora and I got this thing on my mind if it is possible for me to use vlc to listen to Pandora. Is that a great idea? How to use vlc to listen to Pandora?  Can you give me some idea and suggestion if this is really possible and if yes how to get this working?

How to use VLC to listen to Pandora?

Hello, 

It is possible to listen to Pandora through VLC, but you have to receive the stream in easy steps,

  1. Run VLC program.
  2. After opening, on the first top left drop down> Select Media.
  3. Select ….Open Network Stream…..
  4. On network tab> Type URL of your desired streaming station in this case Pandora.
  5. Go to Capture device tab > Click > Set mode to DirectShow.
  6. On device selection > Set Video device name to None , then Audio device name should be set to your default or installed sound card.
  7. Down right bottom there is a play button > Click on the drop down arrow > Stream > Destination setup.
  8. On New destination set to HTTP > Click highlight or select Display Locally.
  9. Next set Encapsulation method to Audio – Vorbis(Ogg).
  10. On left side is a button for editing the selected profile> Click on edit> Check Audio codec under Trans-coding options > Set to MP3 > 256 kbps> 2 channels.
  11. Click Save to exit first dialogue box
  12. Click on Stream to listen to stream
