I recently installed update 2571544 on my Lync 2010 client for Lync 2010, and I deployed the federation feature in the environment. I have more than 100 contacts in my federated environment. And whenever I sign in to Lync 2010, a presence unknown status is displayed on many of my contacts. So can anyone help me to fix lync 2010 presence unknown problem?

How To Solve Lync 2010 Presence Unknown Issue For Lync 2010 Contacts On A Lync Server.

Now this is a most commonly found issue with the cumulative update 251544 and further.

To fix this issue you will have to update or install the cumulative update numbered 2737155, the update package for Lync 2010 dated OCT 2012.

Now here note that while doing this installation you will have to modify or edit your system’s registry. An incorrect update of your registry might lead to a lot of issues. SoI would recommend you

to take a backup of the registry before modifying it. And thereby you can proceed without any tension.
