Hello Miller Barbara,

I am going to suggest you a software that I use myself. Its name is DU Meter. You can use this software to track your bandwidth of LAN,Internet or both. You can add a gadget to the desktop which will show you the bandwidth at all times in real time. This software also allows you to put a limit on the amount of data you can use. It gives you detailed reports (Hourly, Daily, Weekly and Monthly) about the data usage. Please try this software, you can download it at: https://www.hageltech.com/dumeter/about

If you require an application that will allow you to monitor the hourly rate by which the bandwidth is consumed, try NetWorx Free Bandwidth Monitoring Tool. It supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. For servers, it supports Windows Server 2003 up to Windows Server 2012. Both 32-bit and 64-bit are supported.

I’ve been using it for several months now and it is pretty useful plus the fact that it is totally free. Since I’m using a volume-based wireless internet plan, a bandwidth monitoring tool such as this is very handy. I have a 30 GB bandwidth limit every month and NetWorx helps me monitor my limit. Just download and install it and see how easy you can use it.

Once installed, it will automatically appear in your system tray. You can make it to automatically start with Windows or start it manually instead. To check your hourly bandwidth rate, right-click on the NetWorx icon on the system tray and select Usage Report.

On the next window, select Hourly Rates tab. Here, you’ll see the rate of bandwidth consumed per hour with specific dates. It lists the total amount of data that was downloaded and uploaded for a specific time.
