How to run CentOS in Virtual Box

I have been trying to load CentOS using virtual box but I keep on receiving this error. "The Virtual Machine reports that the guest OS does not support mouse pointer integration using the current video mode."

It also tells me that i need to capture the mouse (by clicking over the VM display or pressing the host key) in order to use the mouse inside the guest OS. I have tried other OS using virtual box and never encountered this type of error. Can anyone help me?

The Virtual Machine reports that the guest OS does not support mouse pointer integration in the current video mode. You need to capture the mouse (by clicking over the VM display or pressing the host key) in order to use the mouse inside the guest OS.

Hello Andrew,

I think you did not install properly the guest additions inside the virtual machine after the guest operating system has been installed.

The guest additions is consist a system applications and device drivers that optimized the guest operating system for a better performance and usability which also includes the mouse pointer. This might be the problem in that error message you encounter.

Guides on how to install guest addition, the procedure is very simple.

  1. Boot into your Guest.
  2. In the virtual box menu, under devices click guest additions.
  3. After doing that reboot your computer.
  4. After rebooting, look for the virtual box icon.

Hope you are satisfied with my answer and help you solve the problem.
