How I write my text in linux?

Hi, I want to know if any text editors can I get by default in Linux? Cause I install Linux but I could not write any thing on it.

Hi Mathew,

Yes you have some editor in Red Hat Linux. You can take one of them, Vim is very power full text editor in linux world. You just type in to shell prompt.

# vim (file name goes to here)

Example : #vim accounts (it will create a new file name "accounts")

Hi Moss,

If you are installing Ubuntu, you will get a pre-installed text editor software, which goes by the name gedit.  

Alternatively, you can even install other text editors from the Ubuntu one store. You can have a look at the Ubuntu one store at the link given below. You can browse for more text editors and can download it from there.
