Hello Experts,

I just want to ask how to remove hardware Security Identifier (SID) on Active Directory? I opened my command prompt and use the ntdsutil command and I want to remove the condition but I don't know the command for doing this. Can someone please help me?

Hello Zubin,

Here is how you will be able to remove a hardware SID in an ad.

  • You will go to the Ntdsutil command prompt and then type Security Account Management, and then press Enter.
  • After that go to the Security Account Maintenance prompt, and then type connect to server <DNS Name Of Server> and then press Enter.
  • Still at the Security Account Maintenance prompt, you will need to type cleanup duplicate sid and then press Enter. You will get a confirmation of the removal.
  • At the Security Account Maintenance prompt, you will have to type q and then press Enter.
  • And then go to the Ntdsutil command prompt and type q and then press Enter.

Carl
