When you buy a new desktop and have an operating system along with the recovery disk. If your system ever goes down, you need to recover. If you do not have the network drive present on the disk then you cannot get on the internet. What to do if Intel 82566dm gigabit network driver is not present on Windows recovery disk?

1) Set any of the connections to 1000/Full duplex.

2) You can put the net cable in and then out.

  • Attach the network cable to the PC and the boot up the OS.
  • Unplug the cable. Wait for some time. Then plug it in again.
  • This will reset the line and re-negotiate the speed of connection.
  • This is not a long term solution.

3) Customize the driver.

  • Driver .inf file consists of all the default registry settings.
  • Boo the SP CD.
  • The network connection should be cancelled.
  • Then load the NIC driver which has the updated INF file.
