My friend sent me some m4a files, but I cannot open any files. I think there is something wrong with these files, but I do not know what wrong. Please tell me how to fix m4a files.

The file m4a is an audio file. It's MPEG-4 audio only. Try to open it by double clicking m4a files, let your computer decide which application should open it. If no application was found then you probably do not have the application that can open it. If it tells you to choose an application to open it, try selecting Windows Media Player.
It's Window's default media application. And if you still have errors, you must update your media codec or install a codec pack. One of the most popular codec pack is K-Lite Codec Pack. It has many media codec that allow you to play most of the media formats. Download K-Lite Codec pack
Another way to open these files is by installing a media player. I suggest installing VLC Media Player. It plays everything. Visit their Official Website
