World of Warcraft – Wow Error: Fatal Exception?

Help me Techyv! I was playing World of Warcraft and an error message came up.

I have no idea why I got this error or what it means.

I have played this game before on several occasions and never had any problem.

The error message was as follows:

World of Warcraft

This application has encountered a critical error:

ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal Exception

Program: D:wowWow.exe

Exception: 0xc0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 0023:0077EDD8

The instruction at “0x0077EDD8” referenced memory at “0x0000007C”.

The memory could not be “read”.

Press OK to terminate the application.

What does this mean? How do I fix it?

The fact that it included the word “fatal” has really got me worried.

Any ideas would be great!

Every single forum entry I read with people experiencing this error is using Realtek AC97 Audio for their sound card. From my observation. this is causing the cpu core temp to increase causing memory dumps and reading errors. Although not in 100% of the posts I read, their does seem to be a correlation between using Realtek AC97 Audio with an AMD athlon 64 processor.

You can try uninstalling your sound driver and use a different one and see if it fixes your problem. If the problem still persist, download a program called speedfan and monitor your system temps. Check if anything is overheating.
