You can change the startup sound of your Windows 7 by clicking on the Start menu > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound and then change the start up sound depending on what you will choose. If you cannot hear any sound after formatting your laptop, check on the device manager if the sound driver is properly installed.

If not, you will need to install it. Go to your laptop's manufacturer website and find the correct driver.

Check whether if you cannot hear any sound at all. Then you haven’t installed your sound drivers. Do the below steps:

  1. Click Start button.
  2. Right click on computer and go to manage.
  3. Select device manager from the screen appear.
  4. Expand the node Sound, Video and game controllers.
  5. If you can see a yellow color warning icon then drivers are not installed.
  6. Right click on the warning icon and select update driver software.
  7. Then windows will search for the drivers on the web automatically and install them.
