For Orbit Downloader there's no package specifically for Linux so you've to install Wine first, this program allows you to run Windows applications in Ubuntu. Just install Wine and then install the Orbit Downloader else and you'll be fine. Wine always has a few issues so it's probably a good idea to find a new alternative like JDownloader. It's entirely your choice.

To install Skype, go to their page (skype.com) download the deb package for installation and just open it, it'll use the proper installer and you don't have to do anything else.

Greetings friend,

Have you tried using the Terminal to install Skype?

If not, press CTRL+ALT+T and type or paste this command sudo apt-get install libqt4-dbus libqt4-network libqt4-xml libasound2 and hit “Enter”.

Then if it asks for the password, just give the password and hit “Enter”.

Type this command to download Skype. Just choose one.

When you are finished type this command —> sudo dpkg -i getskype-* then hit “Enter”.

To finish installing type this command —> sudo apt-get then hit “Enter”.

For Orbit, just follow these steps and change the commands.

Regards,
