I am using windows XP operating system. The windows narrator in xp has a default voice of Microsoft SAM. But this voice seems too robotic to me. I want to make a microsoft sam change voice in my windows XP.

Can anyone please explain how will I do this?

In Microsoft Windows XP, if the default voice of the built-in narrator is from a male called “Sam” or “Microsoft Sam,” in Windows 7 it is from a female called “Anna” or “Microsoft Anna.” Unfortunately, there is not much setting you can change to make the audio less robotic. The only options available you can change are the following:

  • Speed
  • Volume
  • Pitch

To change the settings, start the narrator. Click “Start,” “All Programs,” “Accessories,” “Ease of Access” then select “Narrator.” In Microsoft Narrator window, click “Voice Settings” at the bottom. In Windows 7, the default settings are the following:

  • Speed – 5
  • Volume – 9
  • Pitch – 9

Feel free to change the settings to customize the voice of the narrator.
