Hell Sudeshnt! Very well said. The first thing you should know is what the features of your laptops are. First, you have to make sure that your laptop is supporting a cable that could support external monitor. Please try to look if you have a 15-pin video connector located either on the back, left or right side of your laptop. You also have to make sure that you have your VGA or video graphic array connector and port. Next thing to do is to set-up the two. Since computers and laptops have color coding on respective cables and wires, it will be very easy for you to identify whether it is for the VGA connector. Connect one end of the wire to the laptop and the other to the VGA port of the external monitor. Now, some of the laptops require you to press a sequence of keys for switching the display on either the laptop or on the external monitor. You could try the sequence Fn + F3, Fn + F4, Fn + F5, Fn + F8 or Fn + F9. I hope this answer will help you solve your problem. Thank you.

Configuring your computer to use two monitors won’t be a problem. Setting it up is merely extending your desktop space. The only thing you need to have is an extra monitor and an extra VGA port on your computer. And since it is a laptop I know there is an extra video port for the second monitor.

The steps I’ll be explaining are done in Windows XP. So if you are using a different operating system like Windows Vista or Windows 7, try adapting this procedure on your computer. To enable DualView in Windows XP, follow these.

  • Right-click anywhere on your desktop and then select Properties.
  • In Display Properties window, select Settings tab.
  • Select Display Monitor then “Extend my Windows desktop onto the monitor”.

The DualView function is now activated. Connect the second monitor to the power outlet and then connect it to the other video port. Your system should now be able to detect the second display and apply correct display settings. It is also best to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

You should do this especially if the second monitor was not detected.
