This error is related with the corrupted download or defective software. To fix this issue there are a few methods, I’ve listed a few

  1. Download Microsoft Fix it and run it. After that reboot your system.

If it works, then it is okay if not then try the below one.

2. .Net Framework is one of the part of this update, so try repairing it from the control panel. It will fix the issue then.

Hope these methods work for you.

If you cannot install a particular Windows update, try using “Microsoft Fix it” if you can still find a download for this utility. Unfortunately, this Windows utility has been retired. Microsoft is no longer providing a download for this program. This is probably because Microsoft has discontinued support for Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows Vista.

If you are using Windows 7 or higher, download Microsoft Easy Fix Package for Windows Update. This will download the file “wu10.diagcab”. “.diagcab” solutions are designed for Windows 7 and higher only. It will not run on Windows XP and Windows Vista. Since you are having a problem installing a Windows update, download the file and run it.

It is designed to fix problems that prevent you from updating Windows. See if this fixes the problem. If you need to fix other problems, visit Windows Troubleshooter.
