Hello, I want to transfer the full settings (such as operating system- wondows xp-3, office-2007, adobe Photoshop, adobe illustrator, acrobat reader, writer, editor, Skype, Dreamweaver mx, Google chrome, yahoo messenger etc.) of my laptop into my new and fresh pc. How will I be able to transfer the whole settings of my laptop to my new pc?

There is a tool in Windows XP that can help you transfer the complete settings of your computer to another. You can use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. Here's how:

  1. Click START.
  2. Point your mouse to All Programs.
  3. Then to Accessories.
  4. Then to System Tools.
  5. Click on Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.
  6. Click Next then follow the succeeding steps.

The wizard will ask you for a disk to save the settings in the end. Provide a blank floppy disk or a USB flash drive. This will be used to transfer the whole settings of the other computer to your new computer.

No you cannot do this. If You have different versions of OS, then you cannot copy all these software to new PC. If anything you have saved to USB Drive it can be moved to your new system, you can only share files and folders but cannot share installed software and their settings, even if both OS platform is same.
