Excel experienced a problem and must close is the error message I get 1 out of 3 times, when I open Excel. It tells me also to it is trying to recover the data and will send an error report. Already 500 reports have been sending out and this is useless because there are no results. All other open Excel worksheet also close and must quickly find the AutoSaved or recovered copies and this is very inconvenient. I do not want to reinstall Open Office, is there anyone who knows a fix or way to work around this problem. In Compatibility mode, should I add the links to pre-2007 worksheets i.e. 2003 or 2007?
Frequent forced Excel shutdowns/ useless error reports
These errors that you usually see usually happen whenever Microsoft Office Excel suddenly closes without having the opportunity of saving the file first. This normally happens if your computer encounters a power outage where the whole system shuts down in an instant.
There is normally no problem opening an Excel file that is created on an older version of Microsoft Office Excel and opening it on a much higher version of the application. Newer version of Microsoft Office Excel is usually compatible opening a file created on an older version of the program. That’s why I don’t see any reason why you can’t open an older version of the file. Maybe there is really something wrong with your program than can only be fixed by reinstalling the application.
If you don’t want to reinstall your program then live with it and just ignore all the errors that you see.
