However, this time, I cannot import AVI video files as error always comes up on AVS Video Converter. It says, File Format Error. What does it mean and how can I troubleshoot this issue?

File Format Error on Importing AVI Files

If you receive a file format error on your video clip when just loading it to the video converter, the problem is either it is using a different extension name or the file is corrupted. To check if the video clip is corrupted or damaged, try playing it using any media player or just play it using Windows Media Player and see if it plays.

If the file has no problem playing and it plays normally then it must be only using the wrong extension name and it is not the original extension name it is using. Even if the file is using the wrong extension name as long as it is not damaged, it will still play in the media player. But if the file is damaged even if its extension name is correct, the file will still be unplayable.

So, if the file plays normally but it doesn’t load in your video converter, the only solution is to use a different converter. One of the programs you can try is Freemake Video Converter. It is capable of converting videos to AVI, MP4, 3GP, DVD, MP3, WMV, MKV, iPad, iPhone, PSP, and more. Download it from Freemake Free Video Converter.
