Error sending emails to third-party programs in Outlook 2010

I’m trying to send an email message with Outlook 2010 but the error below is appearing.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit PC and MS-Office 2010. I checked on the registry settings, but it didn’t fix the issue.

And also, the same error appears when trying to send emails to third-party programs.

How can I fix this?

Microsoft Office Outlook

Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.

When you say "check the registry settings", what steps did you actually do to check the registry? Whenever you're getting this error that means Outlook has a corrupted registry key. You need to remove that and perform a Detect and Repair to fix the entry. Microsoft has an automatic fix for this particular issue, and it also tells you how to back up your registry, in case something goes wrong. Click this link to get the automatic fix: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/813745/-either-there-is-no-default-mail-client-or-the-current-mail-client-can.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, try editing the registry manually. Go to Start and Run, type regedit, press ENTER. Locate this in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareClientsMailMicrosoft Outlook. Delete it and save. Now, look for the Repair and Detect option in Outlook. SInce you're using Outlook 2010, you need to go to Control Panel, Programs and Features. Select Microsoft 2010, click Change. Click Repair and Continue.

Let the Repair finish and check again.

You should be able to start Microsoft Outlook now without any difficulty.

Cheers!

Hi,

There are two reasons that this error occur.

  • You have upgraded your Ms Outlook 2010 from previous version
  • You have made profile from automatic accounts settings.
  1. Create a new outlook profile and import your PST data in current profile.
  1. And if you have made profile from automatic settings then simply create new profile by manually adding accounts settings. Automatic setting is a good option for GMAIL and Hotmail. Import all your data in this profile once you have made it.
  1. Change you default email client to Ms Outlook 2010.
