I want to ask a query regarding my Enterprise Vault installation. I installed it successfully but when I launched it, an error appears. I installed it on my Windows XP PC and I can't make it run. How can I be able to resolve this? The error message is posted below:

If the Enterprise Vault you are referring to here refers to the Symantec Enterprise Vault then it is clear that you installed it on an incorrect or unsupported operating system. Microsoft Windows XP is not at all supported by Symantec Enterprise Vault. I wish you checked the system requirements of the application first before attempting any installation on your computer to avoid wasting money on the wrong program.

If you wish to use the Symantec Enterprise Vault, your computer should be running with Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2008 R2 Service Pack 1. For the hardware, your processor needs to be a quad processor with 2.8 GHz speed at least plus 8 GB RAM. This is the minimum requirements.

The recommended hardware requirements are quite demanding because your CPUs need to be 8 at 2.8 GHz speed and 16 GB RAM. If you are thinking of upgrading your operating system to Windows Server 2008 R2, I don’t think it’s possible. Microsoft Windows XP is not supported for upgrade to Windows Server 2008 R2. Visit Windows Server 2008 R2 Upgrade Paths to see the possible upgrade scenarios so you can install Symantec Enterprise Vault.

The issue you are encountering is due to the AppInit_DLLs. To resolve this, you need to change the value from 1 to 0 in the following Reg Key:

HKLMSOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWindowsLoadAppInit_DLLs

Afterwards, reboot your Enterprise Vault Server.

Please note that before changing anything on your Registry, make a backup of your system so in any case, you will not lose anything during the process.
