How can it positively affect my computer in terms of protection, if I keep my soft Firewall(APF) running while having a Hardware Firewall as well?

Or should I stop my soft Firewall(APF)?

Effects of having two Firewalls running

Having two firewalls running won't give your computer an added protection. Instead it would sometimes make the computer, specially accessing the internet slow.

So it is not recommended to have more that one firewall running at a time.

If you have two firewalls running, choose which one you'd like to keep and uninstall the other one, as one may block the other and vice versa.

There would also come a time that you will have trouble accessing the internet for keeping more than one firewall.

I agree with the previous post. Having two firewalls don’t give you that much protection. A firewall is not like a barrier that a hacker has to defeat or conquer. Hackers don’t view it that way. What they do is they find another path around it that is not blocked. It doesn’t matter how many barriers you put up but with how many pathways you allow to pass through.

To make it simple, anything you can do with two firewalls can be done with only a single firewall. Firewalls are not actually commonly exploited. Firewalls are susceptible to DoS attacks or the Denial-of-Service attacks. One of the disadvantages of having two firewalls is the increase in administrative complexity because with two firewalls, you have to maintain two separate firewall policies including backup and patching.

The main disadvantage of having two firewalls would have to be maintenance and cost.
