I am not a programmer neither am I a computer enthusiast. I am a normal home user. I am currently using a Windows 10 machine at home. Today, after I installed a system update from Microsoft, the computer froze for a second and then a blue screen appeared with following message driver_portion_must_be_nonpaged windows 10. What is this?

First things first, not all blue screens are terminally serious. However, a majority of the blue screen is very serious and usually indicate some fatal errors. It is general advice that if you experience a blue screen, you should get your computer checked by a professional as soon as possible.

As far as your case is concerned, since the blue screen appeared just after an update, this can mean that some update was either not installed successfully by the system or remained incomplete. Thus the system might be broken. The meaning of this error message is that the system tried to access paged memory and exceeded the memory that is available.
