Hi. The Sims three error code 12 fix techniques are many. Firstly, you should have enough space to save your game. Incase if you are encountering an error while saving, you can use ‘save as’ option and save with a new file name. It is better to save your file during night time or before you begin to any adventure. You can also avoid by minimizing the actions on the computer and by not running any program in the background when you are playing a game. It’s better to save your game levels at appropriate times.

If you play “The Sims 3” and you keep getting “error code 12”, try this workaround. Start the game then press ALT + TAB to switch out of the game and then go to the desktop screen. Just let the game run in the background and don’t close it. Open Windows Explorer then navigate to the game’s save location:

  • C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves – for Windows XP
  • C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves – for Windows Vista and Windows 7

Here, delete any folder that contains “.bad” extension and with your save game’s name like for example, “Michael’s Game.sims3.bad”. These folders contain failed saves. Next, create a backup folder in your hard drive then move folders that contains your game’s name with “.sims3”or “.backup” extension to the backup folder you created like for example, “Sariah’s Game.sims3”or “Sariah’s Game.sims3.backup”. These folders contain your active save games and their backups.

After this, switch back to the game by pressing ALT + TAB and try saving again. See if this works. Note: if there are no backups, just try deleting the “.bad” items, switch back to the game, and save. This may also work.
