Do I need to have a Router to enable Magic Jack?

Hi, I am a new user of Magic Jack and when I try to make a call, I hear error 3002. I don’t have a router at the moment so I connected it directly to my modem. Do I need a router to make this work? Please help me I'm new to this. Thanks in advance.

Hello chad. It would have been clearer if I know that which version you are using. If you are using magic jack plus then you don’t need a router. Magic jack plus works with a router or a broadband modem. All you have to do is on the left of the MagicJack unit you have a socket for the phone cable and one for the LAN cable. Connect the LAN cable directly from MJ to your router. Try to reboot everything. Like the computer, the modem etc. Rebooting can solve much issue. By rebooting I mean to turn off and unplug everything. This may help you to get rid of this error.
