Hello everybody,

I have purchased Nokia Lumia 1520 recently. It was working simply great so far. Suddenly today the display gone dark and I couldn't see anything on the phone. It may not be a problem with the charge because just a few minutes back it was fully charged. When I press the power button the navigation buttons are getting turned on for sometime, but the display screen is remain dark. Is this the problem with the screen or display card or something in it? Any help please?

Thanks a lot!

Hi Kenneth P Lewis,

I'm sorry to hear about the problem you are facing. You need to soft reset or hard reset your device. The hard reset will delete what you added to the phone, so ensure you back up your information. Follow the steps below for resetting your phone:

1. Press the volume buttons and lock/power button down  for approximately 10 seconds for the soft reset.

2. Press the volume buttons, lock/power button and camera button for a hard reset.

3. If none of these worked please let a certified technician repair the phone as it could be a deeper matter.

This should help.

If you have a Nokia Lumia 1520 Smartphone and it is acting strange, the last option you can do if the phone no longer works properly is to do either a soft reset or a hard reset. Soft reset means restarting or rebooting your phone. If your phone doesn’t function properly and you can’t reboot it normally, you can do a force reboot forcing the device to restart.

To do a force reboot, first, check that the battery is not empty and the device is turned on. Next, press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously for about fifteen seconds (15 seconds) or until the phone restarts. Release the buttons then wait until the reboot is finished. See if this works. If this doesn’t work, the hard reset will be the next option.

To do the hard reset, first, turn off your phone. Next, press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously until you see an exclamation mark displayed on your screen. When the exclamation mark appears, release the Power button. Next, do the following in sequence:

  • Press and release Volume Up
  • Press and release Volume Down
  • Press and release Power button
  • Press and release Volume Down

After this, your phone should do the hard reset or factory format automatically. Wait until the format is finished then setup the phone again like it is new.
