CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5; error 2908; .net framework causes it to fail

I just got CorelDraw Graphics Suite X5 and installed it but an error 2908 appeared. I tried removing the .net framework client profile by uninstalling it and was able to install Corel. When windows updated .net framework is back and Corel starts to fail its launch. Any suggestions on how to have this installed properly?

Hi Marty, it s good you have asked that question and I will be glad to help you with it.

This is a most probable error with a particular update that tends to block the software suite.

What you need to do to solve this problem is check whether there is another instance yet of CORELDRAW graphics suite and uninstall.

You may also need to uninstall the .net framework and restart the program.

This you will do by;

End all running processes in your computer and also the coreldraw graphics suite by opening task manager and ending the host process in processes option

Make sure you are logged on as an administrator or a user with administrative rights

Go to Start > All Programs > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs

Select CORELDRAW Graphics suite and select uninstall/change

Follow the steps provided in the uninstall option.

You can then go to registry editor to delete all the registry files of the software.

This you do by going to Start > Run > Registry editor

Open the following; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARECORELCorelDRAW14.0

Delete all the files under this folder

Navigate also to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareCorelSetupCorelDRAW Graphics Suite 4

Delete all files under this folder and the key

Delete the following key; HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareCorelCorelDRAW 4.0

Restart your system

Try reinstalling the software

It should work

It is obvious that it is Microsoft .NET Framework that’s causing the issue. If this component is not included with CorelDraw Graphics Suite X5 and no other applications are using it, just uninstall it so you can also free up some space. If Windows Update automatically installs Microsoft .NET Framework back then the best thing to do is to update the Service Pack of your operating system.

To update Windows Vista to the latest Service Pack, download Windows Vista Service Pack 2 [KB948465]. In order to install this Service Pack update, you must first be running on Service Pack 1. This will be the latest and last Service Pack update for Microsoft Windows Vista. Because of the fact that Microsoft Windows Vista is a failure, its lifespan lasted only a little over five years.

Support for Windows Vista ended on April 10, 2012. If you are using Windows 7, you can update to Windows 7 Service Pack 1 [KB976932]. This is the latest Service Pack for Microsoft Windows 7. Since you are using an old version of CorelDraw and also if you are using Windows 7, upgrading to the latest version is the best.

Download CorelDraw Graphics Suite X7. It supports Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 both 32-bit and 64-bit.
