Yes, Microsoft will launch an OS that is available on Cloud. In fact, they already launched the very first cloud OS and it is now available. This is the Microsoft Windows Server 2012 that gives an improved virtualization and a distant movability than with the Linux and Unix. The main update presented a pack of latest features for large-scale data center deployments such as:

  • Microsoft's Hyper-V virtualization that supports of up to 64 virtual processors and 1 TB of memory and higher from the old limit of four virtual processors and 64 GB.
  • The Server Message Block [SMB] protocol has been updated to deal with an accelerated data transfers and the OS's Server Manager can be able to handle compound servers simultaneously.

Maybe the most important improvement is, this will be the first ever Windows Server version that can be controlled entirely via command line. PowerShell gives the Windows the same abilities that Unix has been offering for so long. The GUI feature is still present.
